Cheshire Homes

Kids from the Cheshire Home

The stables, just twenty kilometers from the capital, but already embedded in the rolling Ethiopian countryside, are housed in the beautiful grounds of the Cheshire Polio Centre for Children.

The centre has been operational for close to fifty years and caters to children from all over the country. At any time, there are up to eighty children in residence at the centre where the children will receive reeducation, surgery, orthopedic shoes, and for many of them for the first time, good meals in a nice environment.

Equus complimentarily provides these children with hippotherapy several times a week. This is a time in which the children can be proud of striking out, two meters above ground. The riding is fun, but also increases the children’s physical coordination and self-esteem.

The Cheshire Centre is a superbly run place in a great setting, which you are welcome to visit when you come to the stables.
